Normal – On Oct. 1 the Civil Service council held a meeting discussing the homecoming events the council will be hosting this year.

The council is made up of staff that represent the interests and concerns of their departments and the student body.

At the meeting, the council worked on collaborating on interesting events for the weekend of homecoming.

Council representative Stuart Palmer expands on which events are being planned for the weekend

“The council will have a group walk in the parade and pass out candy during the homecoming parade,”  Palmer said. “The Chilli Cook-off event will take place that weekend, which is a little bit of a change because the event went away for a while but is back due to high demand.”

The event will have departments compete for the best chilli, and the winners make the chilli for next year’s homecoming.

The council worked out the logistics with President Larry Dietz to bring it back in place of the faculty staff luncheon.

The Civil Service council works towards providing staff and students with awards and scholarships all year round. They meet twice every month to collaborate on a variety of fundraising events and activities throughout the year.
