NORMAL- ISU men’s golf finished in 7th place out of 13 teams this past week at the Bearcat (Cincinnati) invitational. Senior David Perkins continued his dominant start of the season by placing 3rd individually out of 75 golfers.
In Cincinnati, Perkins felt like his game was well rounded and everything seemed to be clicking for him.
“All areas of my game were pretty solid this week,” said Perkins. “I hit the tee ball really well, I hit a lot of fairways and hit the greens, so I gave myself a lot of opportunities for birdie.”
Perkins was named the Missouri Valley conference player of the week for the ninth time in his career and the second time this season.
The team won’t be in action for the next two weeks, but Perkins and the squad will continue to work on their game.
“I’m going to put some time into putting and just keep going through the same routine, said Perkins. “Work on the same things I’ve been working on because it seems to be paying off (for me).”
Next up, the team will travel to Arkansas Little Rock on October 21st.
