Veterans Parkway closed due to vehicle vs pedestrian incident

Wednesday night, Veterans Parkway was partially shut down due to a fatal accident involving a single car and pedestrian.

According to a press release Wednesday evening, at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6th, Normal PD responded to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Ft. Jesse Road after a pedestrian was struck while crossing Veterans Parkway by a vehicle traveling Northbound.

At this time, Northbound Veterans Parkway from College Avenue to Fort Jesse Road remains closed.

The coroner was called to the crash site, and the name and identity of the victim are being withheld at this time.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, and anticipate closures on Veterans Parkway between Ft. Jesse Road and Sheppard Road to last for several hours and possibly into the morning.
