Atlanta, Ga.- The CDC advised people at high risk of coronavirus to keep supplies on hand and take everyday precautions.

In a media briefing earlier this week, the CDC provided recommendations for individuals at risk of contracting the virus.

According to Nancy Messonnier, the director of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Disease, the individuals most at risk for the virus are adults starting at 60-years old and the risk increases with age.

People with serious long-term health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or lung disease are also at high risk.

“People with serious health conditions also are more likely to develop serious outcomes, including death,” said Messonnier.

Messonnier advised individuals with high risk to keep supplies on hand and have over the counter medication to treat fever and other symptoms.

She also recommends having enough household items and groceries to be prepared to stay home for a period of time. They should take everyday precautions like washing hands often and avoiding crowds in poorly ventilated spaces.
