Illinois reports largest jump in COVID-19 cases in a day

CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois health officials announce 673 news cases of COVID-19 and seven more deaths.

Illinois Department of Public Health reported an additional 673 new cases bringing the total to 2,538. This is the largest jump in a day the state has reported.

According to an IDPH news release, 87% of fatalities are among patients 60 years or older. IDPH also reported seven more deaths bringing the total to 26 deaths in the state.

These deaths include a man in his 50s, two men and two women in their 60s, a man in his 70s, and a woman in her 90s.

Out of 102 counties in Illinois, there are 37 counties reporting cases of COVID-19.

McLean County has not reported any new cases for the third day in a row. The county remains steady with eight cases and one death.
