NORMAL, Ill.- Due to the uncertainty with COVID-19, Heartland Community College is transitioning to all online classes for the summer 2020 academic term.
Students who have already registered for face-to-face summer classes will be required to re-register for the comparable class online.
Students are directed to check their accounts to see if classes have been dropped and no longer appear on their personal schedule. Classes that were originally in an online format will not be affected.
“Transparency to students of expectations between a fully online class and an in-person course continues to be a priority,” said Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs Rick Pearce. “In line with past practices, we will not make the assumption for the student that an online course will work for them, especially in the shorter summer term.”
Students will be prompted to take a one-time online course awareness survey before enrolling, if they have not already completed it.
“The online awareness survey helps to make students aware of the technology and internet requirements necessary to be successful in an online course,” said Pearce.
Heartland continues to offer additional technical support for online students via 24-hour support from the Canvas Learning Management System and the Heartland Online Support page.
The first of the Summer 2020 semester academic classes begin May 18.
