ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference announced earlier today that ISU senior golfer David Perkins has been named the MVC Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Prior to the suspension of the season, Perkins was the conference’s top golfer and led the second-place golfer by about three strokes. He competed in six tournaments which resulted in five top-10 finishes and all but two rounds were par or better. Back in September, Perkins finished 1o under par at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, which earned him an individual medal.
The senior has earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors 11 times in his career, including four this season, which is the second most weekly honors in MVC history.
Perkins was also named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List, which is given to the top amateur golfer in the nation.
