NORMAL, Ill. – Three local basketball coaches have been named Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA).
Illinois Wesleyan women’s basketball Head Coach Mia Smith was one of 16 recipients honored in the College Women category. Smith helped lead the Titans beat top-seeded Wheaton in the CCIW Championship for the third straight season.
University High School boys basketball Head Coach Andrew McDowell earned the award in the High School Boys category after helping lead the Pioneers to a 26-8 overall record and 16-2 record in conference play. The Pioneers also were undefeated at home this season.
University High School girls basketball Head Coach Laura Sellers earned the award in the High School Girls category after helping lead the Pioneers to a 23-11 overall record and 11-7 record in conference play.
