NORMAL, Ill. – Ahead of their first official practice of the 2020-21 season, the Illinois State women’s basketball team has been voted fifth with 223 votes in the Missouri Valley Conference’s preseason poll.
Coming off of a 19-10 (11-7 MVC) season, the Redbirds have surpassed their preseason rank in each of Head Coach Kristen Gillespie’s four years with the program.
Sitting in front of the Redbirds is Missouri State in first (360 votes), Bradley (328 votes), Northern Iowa (288 votes) and Drake (282 votes). Southern Illinois, Valparaiso, Loyola-Chicago, Indiana State and Evansville round out the poll.
The Redbirds will hit the court for their first practice tomorrow morning at 6:30 in Redbird Arena.
