NORMAL Ill- the Illinois State University athletic department held a press conference over Zoom Thursday morning to welcome new Athletic Director Kyle Brennan to the staff.

Brennan comes to ISU after spending time with the University of Utah’s athletic department. Brennan attributed the tradition of Redbird athletics as what drew what drew him to the position and credited the potential the program presents.

“When I look at the history in softball and basketball and the recent success in football and other sports, I just see a great opportunity to build on such great success that’s already taken place.” Said Brennan. “I compare it to a house with great structure, everything’s ready to go and now it’s time us to continue to work on that remodel and make up to date and fresh.”
President Larry Dietz praised Brennan’s commitment to help prepare student athletes for success both on the field and in the classroom “The thing that really resonated with me and the other people involved in the process is that Kyle is a person with great passion for not only athletics but for student success. He and I discussed at great length his belief in the student athlete model.” Said Dietz “Taking young men and women and helping them with their professional development not only athletically but also as individuals.”

Brennan will officially start his role on January 15th.
