NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University’s Student Health and Wellness Team (SWAT) is bringing back its Wellness Gazebo known as “The G Spot” to provide free health and wellness resources to students.

“The G Spot” has been a mainstay on campus for several years, aiding and educating thousands of students with the goal of spreading awareness and making resources available. Haley Lemp, the president of SWAT spoke on how the program is beneficial for students of the ISU community.

“We’re not expecting every student to avoid every risky choice ever,” said Lemp. “So because of this we want them to have the knowledge necessary to make the healthiest decisions”

SWAT has held other events such as the “Send Silence Packing” event last week which focused on suicide prevention. Along with the “Send Silence Packing” event SWAT has hosted workshops known as “On the Rocks” which centers around drugs and alcohol. The “Under the Covers” event is an which focuses on consent and sexual health, and a COVID-19 prevention and education workshop.

“The first step is awareness, allowing students and faculty to become aware of health issues they may not have known about, and about health resources,” said Lemp. “Then increasing their knowledge so they’re accurately informed and can make better decisions. Finally uptake of available resources being either physical like the condoms at the G spot, or health resources like workshops. In general we want to influence healthy behavior”

“The G spot” is located on Schroeder Plaza on Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. and all ISU students are encouraged to attend.
