NORMAL, Ill. – Streets in Uptown Normal will be closed next Thursday the 27th  of October from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for Treat Feast, spanning from Lindon to Fell Avenue. Businesses in Uptown will be open for trick or treating from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Treat Fest will welcome trick-or-treaters to explore Uptown Normal in a safe, family friendly environment. Businesses across Uptown Normal will provide candy for trick-or-treaters as well as kids will be able to go from business to business.

“Treat feast is an annual opportunity for families to come and trick-or-treat in uptown normal,” said Civic Arts Manager for the Town of Normal, Adam Fox. “It is a safe space for everybody to come to which is the real reason we try to set this up, uptown businesses give out candy at their front door as you come through, and we will have other entertainment as well.”

While local businesses will be present for the event, local titans of industry will also be present. One of these companies in attendance will be electric vehicle producer Rivian.

“Rivian will have a couple vehicles there, trick or treating out of their Frunks, and we will also have a DJ for a Monster Mash dance party, who will be powered by Rivian vehicles,” said Fox.

This event has gone on for nearly a decade in Normal, but Fox describes the struggle during COVID and the future of the event.

“In 2020 we paused the event, because of COVID, and in 2021 we brought it back and had a nice turnout, and we are excited for this event to grow and to bring people back out,” said Fox

Costumes are encouraged for children, parents, and businesses. This event is free for all to attend.
