NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois Corn and soybean production is at an all time high. Data has been showing that the Illinois corn yield is currently at 215 bushels per acre, a large increase of 13 from last year, according to crop statistician Mark Joyner.
“If this yield holds to the end of the season, it will be a new record high corn yield for Illinois, surpassing the old record of 210, which was set in 2018,” said Joyner.
Corn production is predicted to be at 2.27 billion bushels, with soybeans at 64 bushels with crop statistician Mark Schlesinger elaborated on the historical significance of these numbers.
“The soybean yield in Illinois is steady, with last month at 64 bushels per acre,” said Mark Schlesinger. “That is one bushel below last year’s record high of 65. Total production of soybeans is forecast at 685 million bushels. That is up less than 1% from last year’s production and would be a new record high for total soybean production in Illinois.”
