BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Bloomington Police Department has identified a person of interest in a series of fires that were purposely set over the weekend.

Overnight from April 15 to 16, officers responded to four different fire scenes across the far west side of Bloomington from West Market Street to West Washington Streets.

All the fires were set at the properties of local businesses and did not result in any injuries.

The subject was identified by the police department in a Facebook post seeking information on the arsonist.

“The subject is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, tall with a slim build, wearing a brown stocking cap, black hooded sweatshirt, white undershirt, sweatpants with three large white stripes, in bare feet with flip flops,” the Bloomington Police Department said. “The male was also carrying a dark backpack, large dark shoulder bag and black trash bag.”

The Bloomington Police Department is urging anyone with information on this individual or the crimes to come forward at this time.
