NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University will host the nearly sold-out Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Brown Ballroom at the Bone Student Center at 5 p.m. Tickets are available through Jan. 31 or until sold-out.

Emmy-nominated, multiplatform storyteller and producer Baratunde Thurston will be the featured speaker for the event.

“Baratunde Thurston is known for his conversations on equity, social justice and technology…he will talk about, in his own voice, the legacy of Doctor King”  ISU Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer Byron Craig said.

Attendees of the Cultural Dinner can expect an evening centered around Thurston’s thoughts of Dr. King’s legacy, paired with dinner and fellowship.

“People can expect an uplifting evening and will take away a message that’s in the vein of Dr. King’s work that sets us up for the work that we are currently doing, and the work that we need to do to keep his work alive,” said Craig.

Tickets for the event can be found on the ISU website.
