PROVO, Utah – Illinois State gymnastics will be on the road for a meet at BYU tonight. The Redbirds will face both the No. 14 Cougars and the No. 35 Washington Huskies.

This will be a tough match against non-conference opponents, but the Redbirds are still a group carrying a lot of momentum into the meet.

For the fourth consecutive week, junior Angelica Labat won the Gymnast of the Week Award. Freshman Alana Laster, the winner of Newcomer of the Week Award for the past two weeks, received co-Performance of the Week honors. Winning Newcomer of the Week instead was teammate Jaye Mack is the second time for her this year.

“It was a really good meet for the Redbirds,” said Head Coach Bob Conkling on their performance a week ago. “The good thing is we have areas we can still improve . . . this gives us some momentum heading into BYU.”

The ‘Birds scored a 195.875 last week, tied for the third-highest score put up in Illinois State gymnastics history. They will get an opportunity to take another shot at the record books tonight at 8 in BYU’s Mariott Center.
