‘Only Built for Infinity Links’ is Migos members Quavo and Takeoff’s new album, which was released October 7th, 2022. This album brings Quavo and Takeoff back to the early days of Migos, as they wanted to replicate their sound from their older albums. As Quavo said in a Billboard interview, “we just broke it down and wanted to be very aggressive” for the energy of the album. This album was created in a time when both rappers finally did not have distractions in their life, which allowed them to spend more time focusing on their music. As for my favorite song, it would have to be ‘Hotel Lobby (Unc and Phew)’, as it really reminds me of early Migos with the heavy use of ad libs. As mentioned in the song name of ‘Hotel Lobby (Unc and Phew)’, Quavo and Takeoff are uncle and nephew, which they mention in some songs. Having that family relationship, in my opinion, can make their music feel more personal and cohesive. Their styles are very similar, which makes their collaborations always run smoothly. My second favorite song on the album is ‘Us vs. Them’ with Gucci Mane. As they have collaborated nearly ten times before, they all know how to make each other’s verses match each other’s vibe and lyrics, which makes it feel like Gucci Mane is not just a featured artist. My third favorite song is the first song on the album, ‘Two Infinity Links’, as the music in the background of the sound really adds volume to the song. In addition, this song has the perfect flow, as each line and verse work perfectly together. Overall, I think this album is a 10/10 and it really got me back into both Quavo and Takeoffs music as I forgot how good it was. Any Migos or 2016 rap fan would 100% love this album.
