Former United Nations Ambassador Visiting Bloomington-Normal

NORMAL, Ill. – On Nov. 3 former Ambassador and Illinois State University Alumni Donald McHenry will present an address as part of the Adlai E. Stevenson Memorial Lecture series at 7 p.m. in the Performance Arts Concert Hall here on the campus of Illinois State University.

Ambassador McHenry’s talk which is a part of the Presidential Speaker Series is free and open to the public. McHenry will be available for questions as well after the speech during his attendance of a master class presentation happening the same day at 3 p.m. at Illinois Wesleyan University in Beckman Auditorium.

A 1957 graduate of ISU, McHenry went on to serve as an United Nations Ambassador post-grad from ISU. McHenry also served as a member of President Jimmy Carter’s Cabinet from September 1979 to January 1981. McHenry continues to hold several board and trustee positions in non-governmental organizations. These positions include Chairman of the Ford Foundation International Fellowship, the American Assembly, and the Coca-Cola African Foundation.
