NORMAL, Ill. – Matthew Listman, 21, was reported missing in Normal on Thursday January 26. On Friday, he was found by a creek and pronounced dead.

The Illinois State University student was last seen alive at 10:15 p.m. on the 26th near North Main Street and Orlando Avenue in Normal.

Listman’s body was found the next day in the 900 block of North Main Street. Police reported a preliminary autopsy indicated the cause of death to be drowning in the setting of cold exposure. Authorities suspected no foul play.

ISU President Terri Goss Kinzy sent and informed the campus of Listman’s death in a university-wide email.

“Our most sincere condolences go to Matthew’s family, friends, and classmates during this very difficult time,” stated President Kinzy. “Matthew’s passing is a shocking loss to our tight-knit College of Business community, and he will be greatly missed.”

Listman was a senior majoring in business administration and was a graduate of Libertyville High School.

“Losing anyone is painful, but the pain is especially acute when we lose someone who is just starting their journey in life,” stated President Kinzy.
