NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University Interim President Dr. Aondover Tarhule has named Dr. Jeri Beggs as interim athletics director.

Dr. Beggs will step into her position on May 1, the day after former ISU Athletics Director, Kyle Brennan, resignation becomes active on April 30.

A professor in ISU’s Department of Marketing steps into her new role with 14 years of experience as faculty athletics representative at ISU, as well as finishing her final year in a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors as the only faculty athletics representative on the board.

“Dr. Beggs brings a wealth of experience in athletics governance to her new role,” said Tarhule. “She also brings a deep dedication to our student-athletes. I am confident in her leadership and know she will work collaboratively with Athletics staff as well as internal and external partners, and be a strong advocate for our programs within the community and the MVC.”

In addition to her current positions held with the NCAA, Dr. Beggs served on the NCAA Transformation Committee. This committee was formed with the goal of modernizing college sports as a whole.
