NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Soccer could not overcome an early deficit as Butler University secured a 2-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Six minutes into the first half, forward Abigail Isger would find the back of the net to give Butler the early lead.

Butler would end the first half with six shots and 4 shots on goal. ISU would only record 2 shots with zero shots on goal.

Fifty-five seconds into the second half, Leila Lister would extend the Butler lead. Butler recorded 12 shots and seven shots on goal in the win.

The Redbird offense struggled again, recording only two shots on goal. The Redbirds had just two corner kicks the entire match, compared to Butlers’ 11.

Redshirt Freshman goalie Madi Valenti recorded four saves in the loss. She continues her solid freshman season in goal for the Redbirds.

With the loss, the Redbirds moved to 2-5-1. ISU’s offensive woes continue, as they have been shut out in their last seven matches.

ISU will be back in action on Thursday as they will face Southern Illinois at 6 pm.
