Halsey – The Great Impersonator wznd_admin

Halsey is a singer-songwriter from Edison, New Jersey. She currently has 44,110,229 monthly listeners on Spotify. Halsey’s new album, The Great Impersonator, released on October 25, 2024. The album contains 18 tracks and has a running time of 1 hour and 6 minutes.
“Ego” is the main track of this album. This song has that classic Halsey vibe. The song is an angsty one that talks about how big a person’s ego can get while as a teenager and dealing with that ego as an adult.
One of my favorite songs off this album is “Hometown.” This song has an interesting slight country sound to it that fits Halsey. I also really like this style of songwriting where the song tells a story within itself.
“Letter to God (1974),” “Letter to God (1983),” and “Letter to God (1998)” are songs that have similar vibes to each other and they’re super interesting. They all have live, recorded aspects within each. They also entail Halsey’s health struggles with Lupus and Leukemia. You can tell just how personal these three are to her and the album, especially since she had announced this album after sharing to social media that she was lucky to be alive from her struggles.
Another one of my favorites is “I Believe in Magic.” This song reminds me of her hopeless fountain kingdom album, and features background recordings of her son’s voice. This song is about Halsey’s struggles as a single mother, but at the same time it is so sweetly about the love for her son.
Overall, this wasn’t my favorite Halsey album. Almost all of these songs were pretty slow, and while I understand and feel the emotions coursing through them, I really love when Halsey goes all out with her more upbeat ones.
Favorite Tracks – “Hometown” and “I Believe in Magic” Rating – 7/10
