NORMAL, Ill. – Several international students at Illinois State University have had their visas unexpectedly revoked, part of a broader immigration policy shift by the Trump administration that’s now sending shockwaves through university communities across the country.

The Director of Media Relations and Strategic Communications for Illinois State University, Chris Coplan, provided some insight into how this issue is affecting Illinois State University students.

“Illinois State currently has 554 international students enrolled. We can confirm that a small number of those students have had their visas revoked,” Coplan said.

According to Coplan, Illinois State University is focused on providing whatever support they can.

“We are directly communicating with the affected students to provide appropriate resources and options,” Coplan said

As the situation unfolds, Coplan has refrained from releasing any further details on the matter to protect the privacy of affected students.
