NORMAL, Ill. – Two teams clinch a playoff berth five weeks into the high school football season.
Bloomington High School remains undefeated after shutting out Urbana this week. The Purple Raiders won by a score of 48 to 0 and have officially clinched a spot in the playoffs with a record of 5-0. Next week, Bloomington will face the Ironmen of Normal Community at 7 p.m.
Bloomington Central Catholic also clinched a playoff spot as they won their 5th game Friday night against Monticello. The Saints won by a final score of 41 to 13 and now have a record of 5-0. Central Catholic is on the road on Friday as they will play St. Teresa at 7 p.m.
Normal West was victorious in a close game against Peoria High School on Friday night. The Wildcats won by a score of 43 to 38, moving their record to 3-2. On October 3rd, the Wildcats are on the road as they will face Waubonsie Valley at 7 p.m.
Normal Community bounces back with a win this week after defeating Manuel 56 to 8. The Ironmen’s record now sits at 4-1 after five weeks. The Ironmen host Bloomington this coming Friday, October 3rd, at 7 p.m.
Normal University fell to Rochester High School at home on Friday night, with the final score being 56 to 7. The Pioneers’ record goes down to 2-3 after the loss. Next Friday night, U-High is back on the road as they will face Glenwood at 7 p.m.
