NORMAL – The Friends of the Autism Place will hold it’s fifth annual trivia night this Saturday at the Illinois State University Alumni Center.

The Friends of The Autism Place is a non-profit organization which advances for support in autism awareness and education.

The program helps ISU clinicians who are planning to work in different fields within the psychology department. These clinicians can help kids with autism and teach them the necessary skills to be successful in everyday life.

President of the organization, Jenny Baker, explains the idea behind the organization and services for parents.

“They work on social skills group, and help them improve conversation skills, making friends, what is a bully, hygiene skills.  There are parent support groups available while the kids are getting social skills training. So it’s a really neat program.”

The program uses funding for intervention, counseling, and consulting for families. The funding is split between the Friends of the autism place and The Autism Place.

Trivia night will provide music, games, food, drinks, a silent auction for products and services from local businesses around the Normal area, and most importantly, over six rounds of trivia.

With the services provided from the two organizations and the benefits involved for families and kids, the event is looking for a great night.
