CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The University of North Carolina has sent the Sons of the Confederate Veterans nearly $2.6 million with an out of court settlement over the university’s refusal to restore their Silent Sam statue.

Defamation Lawyer Greg Doucette has been covering this story and reviewing the case filed against the university.

“So the Sons of the Confederate Veterans sued, but their lawsuit sucks. I mean it’s basically a fake lawsuit where their Causes of Action aren’t real.”

This is a lawsuit that the Sons the Confederate Veterans did not have the authority to file.

“For example in their lawsuit, they claim they’re owed money because the statue was down for ninety days. However, that isn’t something that a private party can sue about. It can only be done by the Attorney General, but the university agreed to give them money over these garbage claims,” said Doucette

The University of North Carolina has yet to put out a statement in response to the recent scrutiny.
