NORMAL, Ill – A day after Illinois State University responded, Heartland Community College has extended spring break until March 20th.

HCC decided to extended the break to prepare and respond to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The college will remain with regular office hours during the extended spring break to discuss how the college will move forwards.

“As we look at all options available to maintain our high level of instruction, we’ll be taking the time to work with faculty to prepare in the event that we would suspend or alter in-person class time,” said President Keith Cornille in an official press release.

HCC also announced cancellation of Summer 2020 Study Abroad programs. They suspended all non-essential travel through April 30th.

Heartland Community College will be reviewing all large gatherings on campus.
