NORMAL, Ill.- As a response to the Coronavirus, Normal will be canceling several events and closing down several locations.

The Town of Normal’s Cultural Arts Department will temporarily close to the public starting on Saturday, March 14 to help limit large gatherings for the health and safety of our visitors and members.

This includes the Children’s Discovery Museum and the Normal Theater.

Both sites will remain closed through March 30.

The McLean County Irish Heritage Society stated, “Due to health and safety concerns we regretfully will be canceling this year’s Saint Patrick’s day parade scheduled for Saturday, March 14.”

At this time Normal curbside pick up of landscape waste is delayed.

The Town of Normal will resume curbside collection of landscape waste beginning the week of March 30 on the regular refuse collection day.

All items to be collected should be placed curbside no later than 6 a.m. on the day of collection or after 6 p.m. the evening before.

Mayor Chris Koos stated, “The Town continues to monitor the Coronavirus situation and will immediately post notifications should municipal services or activities be affected.”

Koos also encourages all residents to closely monitor information from the McLean County Health Department, Illinois Department of Public Health and the CDC.
