President Trump Lashed Out at Ex-FBI Official, But The Investigation is Still Underway

WASHINGTON D.C. – The president made biting remarks on Andrew McCabe yesterday.

An investigation into whether McCabe lied during an internal probe in 2016 is still under way, but President Trump has already determined McCabe to be a liar.

“What he was trying to do was terrible, and he was caught. I am proud to say we caught him” said President Trump yesterday in the Oval Office. Trump appears confident of McCabe’s guilt despite the fact that the internal investigation is still being conducted.

The charges against McCabe are that he lied under oath about one of his sources during a 2016 inquiry of the Clinton Foundation. McCabe has admitted that what he said was a false narrative, but denies lying to investigators.

McCabe, who was fired from the FBI last March, says that his firing was politically motivated. He wouldn’t be the first FBI official ousted under similar circumstances. In 2017, Trump fired the then-FBI director James Comey on live television.

“The FBI has some of the greatest people, some of the finest people you’ll ever meet, but this man is a complete disaster” said Trump of McCabe. McCabe has defended his actions at the FBI, including a 2017 investigation of Trump to determine if the president was a Russian spy.

If anything, this highlights the toxic relationship between President Trump and officials at the FBI. Like James Comey, Andrew McCabe has just  published a book about the president, titled “The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump”.
