Bloomington, Ill. – Ferrero plans to begin a $75 million expansion project in Bloomington.

The confectionery company is known for its production of Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Crunch, Raisinets, and other large chocolate brands.

“The Bloomington community and its leadership have been instrumental to Ferrero’s growth this year,” stated Ferrero’s Senior Vice President of North American Operations, Giorgio Pasquale in a statement. “This is the perfect place to take our next big step in expanding our capabilities in North America.

Ferror plans on building a new chocolate manufacturing center expanding the existing plant. The project plans to begin in the spring of 2021 and employ about 50 workers.

“This is wonderful news for our City and our region,” stated Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner in a press release. “We are grateful Ferrero chose Bloomington, Illinois for Ferrero’s first North American chocolate factory! A fantastic economic development project and a great testament to our community.”
