NORMAL , Ill.- Redbird Football quarterback Brady Davis has announced that he will not be participating in the upcoming spring season to prepare for the NFL draft.
Davis started 21 games over two seasons for the Redbirds after transferring from Memphis. In 2018 he was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team. Last season he threw for 1,570 yards and nine touchdowns before suffering a season ending injury in the home finale against Missouri State.
Davis was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA due to his injury. He will now forgo his senior season in preparation for the draft on April 29. Redshirt sophomore Bryce Jefferson and redshirt freshman Jack Baltz are expected to compete for the quarterback position, both saw playing time last season.
Redbird football will begin their spring season on Feb. 19 at Northern Iowa.
