BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- There are three mayoral candidates for the city of Bloomington. Among them is a 37-year Bloomington native that says he wants to build on all that is good and exciting about the community.

Mike Straza describes himself as a passionate entrepreneur as someone who has started and maintained six businesses over the years.

“As mayor, I’ll work to accelerate economic growth, invest in our city’s infrastructure, and provide balanced leadership for a diverse community,” said Straza.

In order to accelerate economic growth Straza says he plans to equip current business owners to thrive, help entrepreneurs launch new ventures, and nurture downtown businesses.

“A thriving local economy supports the entire community,” said Straza.

In order to invest in infrastructure, Straza says he believes Bloomington should improve the framework throughout neighborhoods and implement Smart Cities initiatives.

“I’ll help advance our infrastructure so our community continues to be a place we’re all proud to call home,” said Straza.

To ensure a balanced leadership for the community, Straza says he will increase diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“A community is strongest when everyone is given  a chance to be heard and to get involved,” said Straza.

Straza says the “golden rule” was motivation for him to run for mayor.

“Love your neighbor and do right by them is a mantra I fully intend to exemplify as mayor of Bloomington,” said Straza. “Like many, my personal faith informs the way that I lead and serve my community, as well as what I think about being a public servant and leader.”

The election is on April 6.
