NORMAL, Ill.- Rebecca Ropp was elected to the Heartland Community College board in 2014. She has served as the board’s scribe, and has helped push many decisions to support the college. One initiative she looks to improve upon is the agricultural programs.
“I am very excited and passionate about the agricultural programs, that we are setting up at Heartland Community College,” said Ropp. “I really can’t wait to get to work on the master facility plan that we have approved and have started working on. So from a number of different angles, I am looking forward to continue serving on the board.”
Heartland had some issues with hacking last year, Ropp explains the colleges response to this issue.
“We have enhanced some of our positions to make sure that we are being proactive, and not only trying to defend, but also making sure that we don’t have any vulnerabilities in the college. But also emergency plans, to make sure that, moving forward, we’re prepared and being proactive in making sure that everything is safe both digitally and physically for the faculty, staff and students,” said Ropp.
Ropp also shared what set her apart from her opponents.
“I have a strong background in communications as well as leadership, I have a strong background in education as well as agriculture,” said Ropp.
