NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Swimming kicks off their season on Saturday, October 23.

With the season quickly approaching, head coach Caitlin Hamilton is looking to put together some final touch-ups as they are preparing to take on the Evansville Aces at home.

Head coach Hamilton expands on where she expects her team to be in the first meet and how they will have a delayed start to the season.

“It’s all about experience getting racing under our belt. I purposely delayed the start of the year a little bit towards the second half of October so we could really have strong training and conditioning block once we got back to school in August.”

Hamilton went on the explain how the first swim meet allows the team to get some good practice and ease some of their nerves.

“This first meet is about swimming out the nerves and getting some experience under our belt.”

With the season starting in a week and a half, Hamilton knows her team is where they need to be and is excited to have a “normal” season.

“Coming off a COVID year, I see hunger and excitement.”
