NORMAL, Ill.- The Illinois State volleyball team wins the series against the Drake Bulldogs in a commanding three sets at Redbird arena on Saturday night.
The Redbirds commanded the night, winning the three sets, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-19. The Redbirds extend their win streak to 5 matches with the win against the Bulldogs. The ‘Birds did not let the last outcome against the Bulldogs dictate their play as Illinois State handled every challenge Drake threw their way.
The New Zealand native, Tamara Otene dazzled the floor with 19 kills both with power and finesse, keeping the Bulldogs off-balance all night. Sarah Kushner brought her patented energy to the floor and contributed with 6 kills.
Head coach for the Redbirds, Leah Johnson explained that coming into this match, the team treated it like a revenge match.
The Redbirds improve to 12-11 and look to get some rest as they come off a busy week of wins. Illinois State will face off against Southern Illinois University, Friday, October 29.
