Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Broadway Rave event at the Castle Theatre. This was an event with a DJ who played a ton of broadway musical songs, spanning from Phantom of the Opera to Hamilton. It was super fun! The crowd was made up of all different age groups. There were a lot of older people, but there was definitely a good amount of people our age there who were having a blast.

The night started with some introductory songs like “Good Morning Baltimore” from Hairspray and “Oh My God You Guys” from Legally Blonde, and you can’t forget “All That Jazz” from Chicago. The DJ was so good at hyping the crowd up and everyone was having a great time. She also gave out microphones to some people in the audience and let them belt out their favorite songs. She danced around the stage the whole time, and she looked like she was having so much fun herself. I thought I knew a lot of musical theater songs, but she had me beat. She knew every word! Something that I also loved was that she took requests from the audience. There were a few songs that I wasn’t familiar with, but it was clear there were some people who were very into them.

Overall, this was a super fun night for all ages and I would definitely recommend going to see it the next time it comes around. It’s a traveling company, so they go around the country and host these, which is super exciting. Definitely my dream job. I hope that the Castle Theatre has them again soon!
