Get Up – NewJeans

NewJeans is a girl group from South Korea that debuted in 2022. The group consists of
5 members – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. The group currently has 25.2
million monthly listeners on Spotify. Their new album Get Up just came out on July 21,
2023. The album includes 6 songs and has a running time of 12 minutes and 13
seconds.
“New Jeans” is a great opening to this album. The self titled song introduces the group
with a fun and catchy beat. One of my friends is constantly singing this song – it’s that
catchy.
One of my favorite songs off this album is “Super Shy”. The song is mostly in English
with some Korean thrown in there. Since this album is in partnership with “The
Powerpuff Girls”, the backing beats to “Super Shy” are also backing beats from “The
Powerpuff Girls” theme song. This song is super catchy and I always find myself singing
it randomly.
Another favorite of mine is “ETA”. This song is so hype! I really love how upbeat and
catchy it is! This song makes me want to get up and dance.
“ASAP” is a more chill song compared to the others. This song is about close friends
wanting to catch up. The tune to this has more of a Euro-pop vibe.
Overall, I really like this album. Get Up paired with their debut album is so hype! Seeing
this album performed live at Lollapalooza was definitely a highlight and made the album
even better.
