God Said No – Omar Apollo
Rosie Chappell
Omar Apollo is a singer-songwriter from Hobart, Indiana. He currently has 6,410,780
monthly listeners on Spotify. Apollo’s new album, God Said No, came out on June 28,
2024. The album contains 14 tracks and has a running time of 45 minutes and 18
seconds.
“Done With You” is the main track of this album. Apollo talks of breaking up with a
partner and pairs it nicely with his smooth vocals and a more chill, jazzy tempo. This
song is just so easy to listen to and is very catchy, especially the chorus.
One of my favorite songs off this album has to be “Dispose of Me”. This one is a slower
song but Apollo just makes it such a beautiful piece about being in love and he will
forever be in love with the person the song is about.
I also really like “Spite”. This is a more upbeat song, and I just catch myself jamming out
to it a lot. I also just think it’s one of the more fun songs capturing the rush of love.
If you know me then you know I couldn’t do this album review without talking about
“Pedro”. This track features and is dedicated to Omar Apollo’s close friend, and my
favorite actor, Pedro Pascal. This track is a kind of interlude that starts with Apollo’s
vocals which then transitions into a voicemail Pascal had sent him.
Overall, I really loved this album, dare I say I liked it a bit better than his last album,
Ivory. Apollo’s voice and musical composition never fails to blow me away. I definitely
recommend God Said No, even check out more of Apollo’s music too!
Favorite Tracks – “Dispose of Me” and “Spite”
Rating – 9/10
