    Wallows- Model wznd_admin

Wallows’ new album, Model, was released on May 24th, 2024 and it is their third studio album. Wallows has been making music since 2017 and they have their own unique sound that combines indie pop with a hint of surf rock. Their music is a perfect summer vibe, driving in the afternoon with the windows down. This album followed their established sound but with a lot of unique twists to it. With very impressive drumming and a synthesizer, this album surprised me but I definitely enjoyed it.

“Your Apartment” was the first song on this album and I was instantly captivated by the drum beat. They incorporate satisfying rhythms that guide the listener through the song. The chorus is where I really started to love it even more because the lyrics are relatable and the melody is so catchy. A running trend throughout this whole album is the rhythms and melody are very original, distinctive, and stick to the well known wallows sound that the fans know and love.

The track getting the most media attention is “Calling After Me.” It is placed in the top 40 for pop radio with other songs like “Please, Please, Please,” by Sabrina Carpenter, and “Hot To Go,” by Chappell Roan. With its catchy beat it’s no wonder people love it and as an original Wallows fan from 2018, it is so cool seeing them get some more radio time.

My personal favorites from the album were the tracks “You (Show Me Where My Days Went)” and “Going Under.” For “You (Show Me Where My Days Went),” I really enjoyed that track because it felt a lot like their older music which was refreshing and comforting but I also love the lyrics and how the ending leads so perfectly into the next song “Canada”. For “Going Under” I liked that track because I find the lyrics very relatable. It has unique instrumentals especially during the chorus that are very satisfying to me. Towards the end of the song the main singer Dylan Minnete starts screaming the vocals and it gave me goosebumps. It felt like the climax of the album that they needed.

Overall I am very pleased with this new album by Wallows and I’m so happy they’re back! Definitely go check out this album!!
